When does the summer semester 2022 start?

It is planned that the lectures in summer semester 2022 start on 14 March 2022. However this date can change due to the pandemic. Approx. a week before the semester start the International Office offers Welcome Days for exchange students (in presence or online). The exact dates will be announced later.

What will be the teaching format in summer semester 2022?

It is not decided yet. We assume that the summer semester 2022 will be a hybrid semester (with courses online and in presence). Students, who plan to do their exchange studies at our university, will be informed, as soon as we have more information.

Can I follow the courses from my home country?

If all of your selected courses are offered online, you can also follow them from your home country. In case you come to Germany, please ensure that you have sufficient technical equipment with you: a laptop with headset and microphon, preferably also with a webcam.

Please note that in the case, if you select courses, which will be held on campus or if the exams will take place in presence, you will have to be present in Germany.

Do I have to stay in quarantine after arrival in Germany?

Please check the current entry and quarantine regulations for students arriving from abroad here. The entry regulations change on a regular basis. You should check them again shortly before your arrival.

Do I have to be vaccinated?

Currently, a requirement for entering the university and participating in the events on campus is that you are fully vaccinated (with a vaccine, which is recognised in Germany, recovered or tested (rapid antigen test, maximum 24 hours old, or a PCR test, maximum 48 hours old).

Do I receive an accommodation for the duration of my stay?

The International Office can assist you with reserving a room in one of the student halls, offered by the student services AKAFÖ. Please note that as soon as you sign your rental contract, you can not cancel it. In case you sign the contract, but then decide for any reason, to take part in online lectures from your home country, you will have to pay the rent anyway for the whole duration of your rental contract.

Does Hochschule Bochum offer a German language course for exchange students?

As exhange student you can participate in the German language course during the summer semester 2022, parallel to your regular studies. The course is offered by the Ruhr University.
