Join the digital symposium "smart:sustainable"where experts from all around the globe will present the topic of blockchain technology and Decentralized Finance (DeFi) and its use for sustainable development. The event will give you the opportunity to acquire exclusive insights from both external experts of various backgrounds as well as from students of the Bochum University of Applied Sciences. You will also have the opportunity to join the workshop with three different sessions and discuss with others about ideas, perspectives and questions.

Dr. Niels Faber, researcher at the University of Groningen, will provide an insight to the use of blockchain technology for the realization of a fair and transparent operating space for humanity.
Dr, Wolfgang Pinegger, part of the Global Alliance of Merchants on the Blockchain (GAMB) team, will present GAMB’s cryptocurrencies, GMB/GMBT, and their remarkable benefits for sustainable development.
Will Ruddick, founder of Grassroots Economics in Kenya, will introduce community inclusion currencies.
Frank Voßnackerfrom Siemens Energy will present their connect2evolve project which aims at installing solar panels in Senegal to provide the population with clean and stable electricity.
Alex de Vries, Data Scientist at the Central Bank of the Netherlands, will talk about current sustainability issues of the blockchain technology and how they could be solved.
The event will be directed from students to students and open to anyone who is interested in the topic.
