Almost every product in our modern society is hard to imagine without electronic and electrotechnical components, e.g. smart phones or automobiles. The same applies to industrial manufacturing equipment and production plants. In most sectors, electrical drive elements, modern automation and communication technologies are indispensable.

If getting to grips with state-of-the-art technology appeals to you, if you like to tackle problems and want to learn how to convert them into technical solutions as an engineer, then a degree in Electrical Engineering at UAS_BO is perfect for you.

Mit dem Bachelor-Abschluss sind Sie bereits dazu berechtigt, die Berufsbezeichnung „Ingenieurin" oder "Ingenieur“ zu führen. Den Absolvent*innen der Studiengänge Elektrotechnik oder Informatik eröffnen sich vielfältige Möglichkeiten der beruflichen Umsetzung. In besonderem Maße befinden sich ihre Betätigungsfelder als Ingenieur*in in Forschung und Wissenschaft - sowohl in staatlichen Einrichtungen als auch in Forschungsabteilungen der Industrie.

Darüber hinaus werden von öffentlichen Arbeitgebern Arbeitsplätze in der Lehre und in der Forschung sowie in der Verwaltung angeboten. Durch ihre ingenieurwissenschaftlichen Kompetenzen sind die Absolvent*innen auch für Führungsaufgaben qualifiziert.

Perspektive Berufsaussicht Lehrkraft an technischen Berufskollegs
Werden parallel zum Bachelorstudium die Lehrveranstaltungen des Zentrums für Lehrerbildung der Hochschule Bochum belegt, besteht darüber hinaus die Möglichkeit, (verbeamtete) Lehrkraft an technischen Berufskollegs zu werden. Voraussetzung dafür ist ein anschließendes Masterstudium, das in Kooperation mit der Universität Wuppertal erfolgen kann.


Admission conditions

Higher education entrance qualification

Admission to the programme is conditional on a higher education entrance qualification. You require one of the following:

  • Higher education entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences (Fachhochschulreife)
  • General higher education entrance qualification: German Abitur
  • An entrance qualification recognised as equivalent

In the case of the entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences, a differentiation is often made between the academic part and the practical part. The academic part is completed at school. The practical part can be a completed training course (e.g. apprenticeship) or a 6 or 12-month guided work placement. As a rule, which type of work placement you require in order to be entitled to study is indicated on your certificate. If you are unsure, please contact your school.

If you have obtained your entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences in a federal state other than North Rhine-Westphalia, please check your certificate to see if it is also valid here.

Syllabus for the 7-semester BSc in Electrical Engineering

The practice-oriented, 7-semester bachelor’s programme at UAS_BO allows you to earn a qualification that enables you to work successfully and productively in a business environment.

Should you require advanced academic training after your bachelor’s degree, with the 210 ECTS credits you have earned you are well equipped for a consecutive master’s programme.

The syllabus at a glance:

  • 1st and 2nd semester: Foundation studies/Fundamentals
  • 3rd and 4th semester: Engineering topics
  • 5th and 6th semester: Key skills, project work and individual specialisation
  • 7th semester: Final semester
