Within the master’s programmes in “Applied Sustainability” (AS) and “Sustainable Development” (SD), students have the opportunity to earn a double degree with the Universidad de Congreso (Mendoza, Argentina). Students on the programme complete the first two semesters at their respective home university and then change to the partner university for two further semesters.

The double degree offers you the following advantages:

  • Two recognised master’s degrees in one programme (Argentina: Maestría en Gestíon Ambiental y Territorial; Germany: MSc in Applied Sustainability or MSc in Sustainable Development)
  • Studies in German, English and Spanish
  • International experience and an insight into regional mindsets and working approaches
  • Acquisition of decision-making skills in the international context of sustainability sciences
  • Financial support during the stay abroad
Application procedure

Students of the MSc in Applied Sustainability and the MSc in Sustainable Development can apply for a place on the programme. To do so, please send a motivation letter (1 - 2 pages) and your curriculum vitae by 31 May or 30 October of the year in question for an exchange in the respective next semester but one to eva.waller(at) AND to koordination.nachhaltigkeit(at), indicating “Application for a Double Master’s Degree in Sustainability” in the subject line.

Admission to the programme at the partner university is conditional on Level B1 in German or Spanish respectively (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)). This can be acquired during the first two semesters through preparatory courses at the home university. The degree at the respective partner university abroad is only awarded if the student has achieved Level B2 in the respective foreign language by the end of the two exchange semesters. Mendoza, also known as “the city of sunshine and good wine”, lies at the foot of the Andes in Argentina close to the Chilean border. It is home to several universities, including the Universidad de Congreso, which has received several awards for its research and teaching in the environmental sciences. Due to the location, a core topic in this wine-growing region is water supply.

The UC and UAS_BO have been partners for many years and are now making it possible for their master’s students to attain a qualification at both institutions in the field of sustainability sciences.
