Language Skills for International Applicants - Bachelor's Degree Programmes

Language requirements for international students with school diplomas from outside of Germany.

The following certificates are accepted as proof of language proficiency:

There are certain conditions under which no proof of German language proficiency is required (valid university entrance qualification provided):


- the applicant has completed at least 2 years of vocational training in Germany;

- the applicant has successfully completed one year of study in German-language study programs;

- the applicant has German citizenship and is studying or working in Germany;

- the applicant submits a language examination exemption certificate from another university; or

- the applicant has passed the supplementary examination "German" at a Studienkolleg (preparatory course).
