Language Courses

At Bochum University of Applied Sciences there is an accompanying German course for international students called "Deutsch fürs Studium - German course B2/C1 for international students". On this website you find the dates for the winter semester 2023/24 as well as the registration.

Please note that Bochum University of Applied Sciences does not offer any study-preparatory language courses.

In Studium Plus/ISD courses in English, Spanish and sign language can be taken.

The International Office of the Ruhr-Universität-Bochum organizes a weekly language café. Here nationals and internationals meet in a cozy atmosphere for cultural exchange. Everyone is welcome! https://international.ruhr

Residence Permit

For the residence permit you normally need the enrollment certificate of the university, the registration at the citizens' office, the proof of financing and a valid health insurance.

A residence permit for study purposes is normally issued for two years at a time and must always be extended before this period expires. The extension is dependent on the proper progress of your studies, i.e. whether you take exams and acquire certificates. In this way, it is checked in each case whether you can complete your studies in a reasonable time. For more information, please contact the Foreigners' Office of the City of Bochum.
