The project investigated how the use of concrete and resources in foundation slabs can be significantly reduced through the tailored applircation of custom-made inflatable void formers. Building on the technology already established for floor slabs, this principle was systematically applied to foundation slabs for the first time.
Key aspects:
- BIM-oriented design and digital planning
- numerically supported design and arrangement of void formers
- large-scalle component test for validation of load-bearing cpacity
- digital construction and AR supported mounting concepts
Results:
Large potential for reducing material consumption and embodied carbon emissions as well as a solid basis for further R&D activities, regulatory approvals in the construction sector, and subsequent market introduction
