Conclusion of Nationwide Workshop Series on Green Hydrogen in Ghana

As part of the project GH2GH (Green Hydrogen for Decentralised Energy Systems in Sub-Saharan Africa), a nationwide workshop series was organized in collaboration with the Regional Center for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (RCEES) in Sunyani, Ghana. The workshops, held across key regions of the country including Tamale in the north, Kumasi and Sunyani in the middle belt, and Accra in the south aimed to gather diverse perspectives on the development and deployment of green hydrogen technologies. The series began in Sunyani on October 10, 2025, and concluded with the final session in Accra on November 7, 2025.

The central theme focused on exploring viable business models, use cases, and the scalability potential of green hydrogen (GH2) in Sub-Saharan Africa. Participants included a wide range of stakeholders from both public and private sectors. Representatives attended from the Ministry of Energy, STEM education institutions, Ghana Water Company, waste management agencies, telecommunications, and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, among others. This collaborative effort highlights the growing momentum behind sustainable energy solutions and the vital role of multi-sectoral engagement in shaping Ghana’s green hydrogen future.

The project "GH2GH – Green Hydrogen for Decentralized Energy Systems in Sub-Saharan Africa" (FKZ: 67EXI6503A-C) is funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) as part of the "Export Initiative for Environmental Protection" (EXI). As the project management agency of the EXE, Zukunft – Umwelt – Gesellschaft (ZUG) gGmbH supports the Federal Environment Ministry in the performance of its tasks. As a project of the thematic focus "green hydrogen and fuel cell technologies for decentralised energy supply" within the Export Initiative for Environmental Protection, NOW GmbH accompanies the content of the GH2GH project in its function as a programme company
