Data-Driven & Smart Technologies
Using AI, data science and cyber-physical systems, this main research area concentrates on green and trustworthy AI, education and modern production techniques. It integrates interdisciplinary findings and promotes innovative applications in areas such as logistics, construction, smart cities and sustainability.
This research area focuses on the use of data in the fields of artificial intelligence and data science, as well as the integration of software with mechanical and electronic systems. The aim is to drive innovation in a variety of application areas. The focus is particularly on digital health, smart cities, water management, education and production technology. The work is supported by close cooperation between interdisciplinary institutions such as the Interdisciplinary Institute for Applied AI and Data Science Ruhr (AKIS) and the BO Smart Factory
In line with the university's sustainability profile, innovations related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are particularly important. The focus is on internal IT topics such as green & trustworthy AI and cloud computing, as well as interdisciplinary solutions that use applied research to find answers to urgent global challenges. These include urban development, water management in extreme weather events and resource-efficient production processes.
