Urban Mining Institute – Laboratory for Environment and Recycling

When it comes to waste and recycling, the Urban Mining Institute at Bochum University of Applied Sciences is the hub for practical teaching, applied research and collaboration with industry and science.

Here, students have the opportunity to learn about and apply analytical methods and technical processes in internships, exercises, theses or research projects.

At the same time, the laboratory serves as a central point of contact for companies and scientific institutions on topics such as circular economy, resource efficiency and recycling technologies. Together with external partners, we develop innovative solutions – from basic analysis to concept development and prototypes to process-integrated implementation. The focus is on tomorrow's waste and fine particle systems.
