TREAT - Training and education programme for patients with hip or knee arthrosis
Joint problems and reduced activity are consequences of osteoarthritis and often limit the activity of those affected. Scientific studies show that targeted and carefully dosed training therapy combined with counselling can help reduce pain and improve physical functions.
At InGe, the Interprofessional Health Centre, the Physiotherapy Study Unit is conducting a study to examine the feasibility and effects of an individualised training and counselling programme for patients* with knee and hip arthrosis.
Course of the project
- Suitable participants are randomly assigned to two different groups: one group takes part in the programme, the other group is a so-called control group, which only later carries out parts of the programme.
- The training consists of 12 x 60 minutes of strengthening, balancing and stretching exercises in a small group.
- In addition, there are 3 x 45 minutes of information and training on dealing with osteoarthritis and the role of movement.
