Incoming Students

We welcome international undergraduate (Bachelor) and postgraduate students (Master) to the Department of Business and Management.

Information about our course offer can be found on this website. Further information about the nomination and application process can be found here.

Bachelor

A visiting Bachelor student can choose any available courses from the International Business and Management programme. However, most courses are taught in German and a level of B1 German is necessary to successfully participate. Students who have not achieved this level are also welcome; the list below shows the Bachelor seminars taught in English (all worth 5 ECTS; subject to changes at short notice).

Winter Semester (September-February)

Summer Semester (March-August)

We also have bilateral agreements in place with several of our partner universities which permit us to offer a double degree programme (please inquire at your home university for availability and requirements).

Since the winter semester 2025/26, we have been cooperating with the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences in Gelsenkirchen. Incoming students at our institution can take Business-related courses in English there without any additional cost. Please contact us for more detailed information.

Master

Visiting postgraduate students usually opt for the Master in "International Management". All available courses of the master programme can be chosen. Please note that visiting postgraduate students are also allowed to choose courses from the bachelor programme (see above)!

For students who have not achieved at least a B1 level in German we offer the following range of courses in English at postgraduate level (all worth 5 ECTS):

Winter Semester (September-February)

Summer Semester (March-August)

*"English-friendly courses" are mainly taught in German but offer teaching material and assessment options in English. These courses are designed so that international exchange students without any knowledge of German can participate—especially in project-based formats.

We also have bilateral agreements in place with several of our partner universities which permit us to offer a double degree programme (please inquire at your home university for availability and requirements). Double degree students (Mater International Management) need to follow the programme below.

  • 30 ECTS (one semester)
  • Master's Thesis & Colloquium (30 ECTS)

Courses at the "BO Academy" (Bachelor+Master)

The “BO Academy” is an institute at Bochum University of Applied Sciences offering extracurricular courses. The following courses open both in Winter and Summer Semester and are well suited for international exchange students:

  • German Language Course A1/A2, 6 ECTS
  • German Language Course B1/B2, 6 ECTS
  • Intercultural Communication, 6 ECTS

Further courses may be available occasionally at the BO Academy.
