Project Overview

The German population's attitudes, beliefs and experiences regarding back pain

A person's beliefs about back pain or their experiences with it can influence the treatment they receive and how effective that treatment is. Many people hold on to beliefs that are contrary to current evidence, and healthcare professionals often share such views as well. Studies show that challenging these misconceptions can help to reduce pain. In many countries, there are campaigns and events - some of which are nationwide - aimed at raising awareness about back pain. In Germany, there is as yet no comparable programm.

Aim, Methodology and Future Perspective

Our overarching aim behind BACKCamPAIN is to help make scientifically sound knowledge about back pain understandable and easily accessible – to ensure a better-informed public and improved care.
We therefore intend to test the feasibility and effectiveness of a newly developed information session on back pain – which has been devised in collaboration with people affected by the condition, healthcare professionals and other members of the public – in a pilot study.
